Reckless Insufficiency

The tears falling now are not the watery tears of sadness
they are the burning streams of iron, scalding my face and ripping my heart
my breath shakes and suddenly my whole body on fire is gasping for air
I can’t control myself
I’m gasping for breath, for life
like the coil of a python wraps my shaken soul around my lungs
my brain is running slower and slower like the lazy stroke of a paintbrush
it stops because there is too much
And I don’t know who I am
after the storm
of your recklessness
